Global obesogenic environment

In the December 18, 2008 Newsweek article by Mary Carmichael, she reports on an interview she had with Barry Popkin a professor of global nutrition at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The interview was about the globalization of obesity. She asys “It's not just Americans anymore; the whole world is becoming obese, and we have more than just the advent of cheap cheeseburgers to blame.” She reports on the new book that Popkin has released “The World is Fat”. In his book he attributes the blame on this global crisis on several food items including “sugary drinks”.

He continues “What’s happened is that from 30 years ago to today, we've had an exponential explosion in what we can think of as the "obesogenic environment." You see food available everywhere. You can't move more than 100 feet without seeing a caloric beverage” “In most of the world, it used to be that people mostly drank water, and today they're consuming more and more sweetened beverages”. 22 ounces of a caloric beverage adds an extra 300 calories per day.

This is the prime reason we have developed ISO-5 our all natural Complete Hydration drink. Dr. Tim’s ISO-5 powered by young green coconut water has half the calories of any of the competing sports drinks such as Gatorade. And the sugars that are in ISO-5 are all naturally occurring from the coconut water. That means that there is no high fructose corn syrup unlike competing drinks like Gatorade. ISO-5 is all natural, delicious, rehydrating and contains all 5 necessary electrolytes. It is one of the best answers to this problem of global obesity.
